Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the Orbit Hop app is:

Amrit Singh
Esplanade 29-30
20354 Hamburg
Germany
E-mail: singh@amrit.codes

A data protection officer is not required by law and has not been appointed.

Scope

This privacy policy applies to the mobile app Orbit Hop (app ID codes.amrit.orbithop) for iOS. The website amrit.codes is covered by the general privacy policy (German).

Summary

No account, no tracking of my own, no analytics services. Your progress is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your iCloud, not with me. You only see ads if you start a rewarded video yourself; the videos are delivered by Google AdMob (see the Advertising section).

Local storage on your device

The app stores the following data in its local storage on your device:

  • Game progress: collected stars and fragments, unlocked skins, high scores, mission progress, Daily Galaxy results and streak, and the counter of rewarded videos watched
  • Settings: sound, vibration and language
  • Your decision in the advertising consent dialog (TC string), see the Advertising section

Game progress and settings are not transmitted to me and are not processed by me. They contain no information about you as a person. A copy of your progress is sent to Apple only if you use iCloud (see the iCloud backup section). Your consent decision is read by Google's advertising SDK to serve ads accordingly (see the Advertising section). Without iCloud, all of this data is deleted when you uninstall the app. If you use iCloud, the backup of your progress remains in your iCloud.

Legal classification

This storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you have explicitly requested, namely the game with progress and settings (Section 25 (2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG). Consent is not required for this. No processing of personal data within the meaning of the GDPR by me takes place.

The fonts and all game content are bundled with the app. The app loads external content only for the rewarded videos (see the Advertising section).

iCloud backup

If your device is signed in to iCloud with an Apple ID, the app additionally stores your progress in Apple's iCloud key-value store (iCloud Key-Value Storage). The backup covers stars, skins, high scores, fragments, missions, Daily Galaxy results and streak, the counter of rewarded videos watched, and the sound, vibration and language settings.

Purpose of the backup: your progress is kept when you delete and reinstall the app, and it is available on other devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Without an iCloud sign-in, everything stays on the device only, and deleting the app deletes your progress.

The data is stored in your iCloud account with Apple. I have no access to it and do not receive any of this data; there is no server of my own. iCloud is provided by Apple, for users in the EU by Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland. Processing takes place under your iCloud agreement with Apple; the Apple Privacy Policy applies.

Legal classification

The app uses the iCloud feature you have set up on your device yourself. The backup serves solely the service you have requested, namely keeping your progress (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). No processing of personal data by me takes place. Apple is responsible for storage in iCloud under your iCloud agreement.

Turning it off

In the app under Settings > iCloud backup. Turning it off deletes the copy in iCloud. Alternatively, you can sign your device out of iCloud.

Share function

The share function lets you pass on a short result text. The app opens your operating system's share sheet for this. You decide which app receives the text. The app itself does not transmit any data to me. The provider of the app you choose is responsible for processing the text there.

Vibration on game events uses the operating system's device interface. No data is processed.

Download via the App Store

You download Orbit Hop via the Apple App Store. During download and installation, Apple processes data under its own responsibility, for example relating to your account, your device and payment. I have no influence on this. The Apple Privacy Policy applies.

Statistics and crash reports

Apple may provide me with aggregated statistics (for example the number of downloads per country) and crash reports, provided you have agreed to sharing them in your device settings. This information is aggregated or purely technical; I cannot identify any individual from it.

Contact by e-mail or support form

If you write to me by e-mail or use the support form on amrit.codes, I process your name, your e-mail address and the content of your message in order to answer your request.

Legal basis

Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your request concerns your use of the app; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering requests).

Service provider

The support form is transmitted via the service Formspree. Details on Formspree, transfers to third countries and data processing on my behalf can be found in the section Kontaktformular (Formspree) of the website privacy policy (German).

Retention

Your data is stored until your request has been dealt with and is then deleted, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app shows advertising exclusively as rewarded video ads. A video only starts when you tap it yourself: in the start menu, up to three videos per day for stars or for progress towards a free skin, and in endless mode after a crash, to continue once per run. There are no banners and no ads that open on their own.

The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google").

Purposes

  • Serving the rewarded videos you start voluntarily
  • Reach measurement, frequency capping and fraud prevention
  • Personalised advertising only with your consent

Data processed

  • IP address and the approximate location derived from it
  • Device and app information (model, operating system, language, app version)
  • Identifiers: the advertising ID (IDFA) only if you agreed in the iOS tracking prompt, and the vendor-specific device ID (IDFV)
  • Interactions with ads (impressions, clicks)
  • Diagnostic and performance data of the advertising SDK

Consent

On first launch, Google's consent dialog (User Messaging Platform, IAB TCF) appears where it is legally required, for example in the European Economic Area. On iOS, the app then asks via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system prompt whether the advertising ID may be used for tracking; if enabled, Google shows a short explanation beforehand. Without consent, Google shows only non-personalised or limited ads. Your decision (TC string) is stored locally on your device.

Legal basis

For personalised advertising and the access to your device required for it: your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG, obtained via Google's consent dialog.

Without consent, Google processes only the data required to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud. The legal basis is then Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in financing the free app through ads that are watched voluntarily. A video is only played if you explicitly start it yourself; there is no advertising without your action. The access to device information required for delivery is, to that extent, strictly necessary for the service you have requested (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG).

Responsibility

Google processes the data partly under its own responsibility. The Google Ads Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms apply.

Transfers to third countries

Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, standard contractual clauses under Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR apply.

Retention

Google retains the data according to its own policies. Your consent decision is stored locally on your device until you delete the app or change the decision.

Withdrawal

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time with effect for the future: in the app under Settings > Legal > Privacy settings (the item appears where it is required). On iOS, you can additionally disable tracking under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

Children

The app is not specifically directed at children under 16. The app itself does not collect personal data; the Advertising (Google AdMob) section applies to the rewarded videos. If you nevertheless believe that a child's data has been sent to me, for example via the support form, please write to singh@amrit.codes. I will delete the data promptly.

Your rights

Where I process personal data about you, in particular in the course of a support request, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access – Art. 15 GDPR
  • Right to rectification – Art. 16 GDPR
  • Right to erasure – Art. 17 GDPR
  • Right to restriction of processing – Art. 18 GDPR
  • Right to data portability – Art. 20 GDPR
  • Right to object – Art. 21 GDPR, where processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR
  • Right to withdraw consent – Art. 7 (3) GDPR, with effect for the future

To exercise your rights, contact: singh@amrit.codes

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is:
